For the last decade, "urban fantasy" has been a growing literary genre. Powered by imagination, myth, and readers' collective need for escape, it suggests that something extraordinary exists behind the facade of our daily world.
When novelist and University of Arizona writing professor Aurelie Sheehan was seeking inspiration for her new book, she found it behind the facade of one of Tucson's busiest thoroughfares.

One of Sheehan's protagonists, Artesia - who may bear a resemblance to the Greek goddess Artemis - has a first meeting with a boy named Paul. In another context Artesia might recognize Paul as her beloved twin Apollo.
But instead of Mount Olympus, the setting for their encounter is the kitchen of a small cafe somewhere on Speedway Boulevard...
