  • Poet and author Liza Porter shares her perspective on hope, and the way it can sometimes spring out of nowhere, to help us when we need it the most. This poem was chosen by “In a Flash”, an online magazine for creative non-fiction. They specialize in publishing stories of 500 words or less, and in March, they chose to feature Porter's essay And What About the Way Hope….

  • With “Up, Up and Away”, guest storyteller Carmelene Siani shares an essay about turning her life around, sacrificing security for excitement, and finding out that it really is possible for to fly. Carmelene was first a guest on Arizona Spotlight when she was a nude model for photographer Jade Beall in the book The Crone Body. You can listen to that interview here.

  • Meet Tim H. Murphy, a local artist whose retirement plans did not go as he anticipated. But it led Murphy to reconnect with a lost talent, and begin taking portraits of Native American Pow Wow Dancers across the Southwest.

  • And, local music artist Gabrielle Pietrangelo celebrates what life in the desert is like as we collectively wait for the monsoon to save us from the heat. Her new song Summer Losers was awarded 1st prize in the John Lennon Songwriting Contest. You can find much more of her music here.
