Tucson Mayor Romero heads to Qatar

Tucson Mayor Regina Romero is missing from Tuesday’s City Council meetings. She’s attending an economic conference in Qatar.

Her spokesperson, Victor Mercado, confirmed to AZPM that Romero is due back in her city hall office next week.

The Qatar Economic Forum, sponsored by billionaire Michael Bloomberg’s philanthropic organization, gathers world leaders and corporate CEOs to discuss the future of the worldwide economy. The mayor will return to the U.S. on Thursday, after the forum ends.

Qatar has been in the news recently as the country whose leaders are trying to gift a 400-million-dollar jet to President Donald Trump.
