According to AAA Arizona, the average fuel price stands at $3.23 a gallon.
That’s up 5 cents from last week’s statewide average and down more than 20 cents from the same time last year.
The national average is about $3.15.
AAA Arizona’s Julian Paredes says the increase doesn't stem from a significant event.
“There’s going to be some regional differences but on the whole there hasn’t been anything major happening, probably one of the biggest things we were concerned about was hurricane season but thankfully nothing has come out of it," he said.
Maricopa County has the highest average price for gas at $3.38. Yuma County has the cheapest at $2.95.
Paredes said it’s possible the Phoenix area could see prices dipping into the $2 range in the coming weeks and months.
