House Bill 2307 - Arizona Manufactured Firearms

House Bill 2307 exempts firearms and ammunition manufactured in Arizona from federal regulations, including registration, so long as the weapons and ammunition in question do not leave the state. HB 2307 is part of a larger movement trying to assert the state’s sovereignty under the 10th Amendment to the US constitution. The 10th Amendment says that the powers not specifically given to the federal government are left to the states. The proposal has 42 sponsors including Senator Frank Antenori (R), Senator Al Melvin (R), Representative David Gowan (R), and Representative Matt Heinz (D) all of whom represent Pima County.

On February 24, 2010 the full House approved HB 2307 on a 35-23 vote.
