Millions Earmarked in Federal Bill for Arizona Military Bases

National Defense Authorization Act sets aside money for Davis-Monthan to purchase property

Listen:

The readiness section of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) sends $16.9 million to Davis-Monthan Air Force Base in Tucson to buy land.

The base is not expanding, instead some of that money will allow the purchase of property D-M leases south of the runway to provide a better buffer.

The NDAA is the bill directing the Pentagon how to spend the Department of Defense budget.

Luke Air Force Base, near Phoenix, is in line to receive $56.7 million dollars for acquisition and construction. Ft. Huachuca in Sierra Vista, has $3.8 million earmarked for construction. The Marine Corps Air Station in Yuma is in line to get 50.6 million.

All of the money is contingent on final votes in the House and Senate. Those are expected in the next few weeks.
