AZ WEEK: Education Drives Deaf, Blind Communities to Success

One story: ASDB grad serves as clerk of Superior Court, elective office in Santa Cruz County.

Arizona Week Friday looks at the Arizona State Schools for the Deaf and the Blind. The schools' 1912 class began at the University of Arizona campus, and the educational institution have now expanded across the state.

On the program:

  • A behind-the-scenes look at the Arizona State Schools for the Deaf and the Blind production of Beauty and the Beast.
  • AZPM‘s Sandra Westdahl profiles Juan Pablo Guzman, who graduated from the Arizona State Schools for the Deaf and the Blind in 1997 and who was appointed, then elected to be clerk of Santa Cruz County Superior Court.
  • Lorraine Rivera speaks with Ray Ray Mungaray, who recalls his time at the school 70 years ago.
  • The Buzz – Christopher Conover shares how the National Defense Authorization Act – which tells the military how to spend its budget – could benefit Arizona military installations.
