Eight Pima County library branches will close Sundays starting May 24, the county's chief librarian said Tuesday.
“In addition to less revenue coming in and increased operating costs, we don’t have enough staff to maintain daily operations at every library in our system,” library Executive Director Melinda Cervantes said in a press release.
Cervantes said in the press release that staff members working at the libraries on Sundays will be reassigned to other branches.
"The libraries were selected after analyzing usage, location, and operational costs," Cervantes said in the release.

The libraries to be closed on Sundays are Dusenberry-River Library, Flowing Wells Library, Himmel Park Library, Kirk-Bear Canyon Library, Martha Cooper Library, Quincie Douglas Library, Sam Lena-South Tucson Library, and Wheeler Taft Abbett, Sr. Library.
