Three Oro Valley Town Council members will face recall in the November general election for authorizing the town to purchase a country club for $1 million.
The Pima County Recorder's Office certified recall petitions Wednesday against council members Joe Hornat, Mary Snider and Lou Waters. Petitions are still in circulation for recall of Mayor Satish Hiremath, with a June 26 filing deadline.
A citizens' committee began the recall effort after the four voted to purchase El Conquistador Country Club and its golf courses. The club building has been redeveloped into a town-owned community center.
All petitions submitted by Oro Valley Citizens for Open Government had significantly more than the minimum 2,195 valid signatures to trigger a recall election.
Ryan Hartung, who chairs the group working for the recall, said more than the needed number of signatures has been gathered against Hiremath, and the group is building a cushion in case some are rejected.
