The 1980s will be remembered as the decade when video killed the radio star.

Filmmakers and music lovers Timothy Gassen and Ray Frieders witnessed - and participated in - the changes that swept through the industry. They played a part in making many of the first music videos from the artists who populated the Southern Arizona scene.

The pair assembled a collection of these rare videos called That Desert Sound, that will be screened Labor Day weekend as part of Hotel Congress's 30th Annual HoCo Fest. It includes rare footage of Giant Sand, The Onlys, The River Roses, The Sidewinders, The Marshmallow Overcoat, and many others...

The video compilation That Desert Sound will debut at a free screening Saturday, September 5th, 2015 at 5 pm at Club Congress as part of the 30th annual HoCo Fest, with replays happening throughout the weekend.
