Episode 15: Preserving the Past for the Future

Archaeological artifacts, like all things, degrade over time. Metals corrode, ceramics break into pieces, pigments change color, and the previous use of pesticide poisons create ongoing toxicity problems. How can they be best preserved for future generations? Scientists in the Arizona State Museum on the U of A campus are addressing this challenge at the intersection of archaeology, chemistry, and materials science.
