Tucson residents may see smoke rising from the mountain range east of town.

National Park Service officials are conducting a prescribed burn on 432 acres of ponderosa pine forest in Saguaro National Park. Michelle Fidler, a park service public information officer, says the burn is meant to lower the density of trees and brush in the forest, and reduce fuels for large wildfires. Fidler says smoke from the burn will be visible in the Tucson area for several days.
