Southern Arizonans with Connections to Trump, Pence

Also, a look at the speaking styles of presidents, connections to larger social patterns.

Friday was inauguration day for President Donald Trump and Vice President Mike Pence. The two made connections in Arizona on several visits in their successful campaign.

Arizona Week features the stories of Southern Arizonans who have connections to Trump or Pence from before their bid for the White House.

On the program, we hear from Art Del Cueto, a Border Patrol agent, vice president of the National Border Patrol Council and president of the local Border Patrol union in Arizona.

The National Border Patrol Council made headlines early in the campaign when it endorsed Trump, and agents were invited both to the election night victory party in New York and to celebrate with the president in the nation’s Capitol for inauguration weekend.

Shaun McCluskey, a conservative radio commentator and real estate broker in Tucson, worked years ago at Mar-A-Lago, an exclusive club in Palm Beach, Fla., owned by Trump.

Professor Kate Kenski of the University of Arizona discusses Trump's communication style compared with previous presidents, drawing parallels to larger social patterns in the country.
