Ricardo Valerdi is an Associate Professor in the Systems and Industrial Engineering Department at the University of Arizona. His research focuses on cost estimation, test and evaluation, cybersecurity and sports analytics. Dr. Valerdi is also the founder of the Science of Sport, a non-profit dedicated to sparking interest in STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) through sports for K-12 students. He developed the Science of Baseball program which has been adopted by the Arizona Diamondbacks, Los Angeles Angels, San Diego Padres and other professional baseball teams. Valerdi is dedicated to making math and science more fun for kids through hands-on learning.
