A new poll says American voters want to see the border controlled before other kinds of immigration reform are enacted.

The Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of 1,000 likely voters showed 60 percent say it’s more important to control the border than to legalize undocumented workers already in the U.S. The poll phrased the question as a choice between those two options.

In another question, 53 percent of those surveyed said they think the federal government’s policies are encouraging people to immigrate to the country illegally.
