Arizona Supreme Court declines GOP lawsuit against early voting

The party's lawyers argue that early voting is not allowed under the state Constitution.

The Arizona Supreme Court has declined to take up a lawsuit by the state Republican Party arguing that early voting is unconstitutional.

The high court said the state GOP could file its lawsuit again in a lower court, however.

The party's lawyers argue that voters should only be allowed to cast a ballot in person on Election Day.

That would upend how most Arizonans vote.

In the last presidential election, 88% of voters voted early either in person or by mail.
