U.S. Senate candidate Kari Lake spoke in Tucson to a packed fundraiser for Republican candidates last night.
Lake, who lost her bid for Arizona governor last year, spoke at St. Phillips Plaza during a fundraiser for what many of the night’s speakers called “America First Republicans.”
“We have an opportunity to pick up a Senate seat,” she said. “Right now Chuck Schumer and the Democrats are in charge of the Senate and it’s disastrous. We have an opportunity in a three-way race to pick up a Senate seat here in Arizona and get it in the hands of not just a Republican, but an America-first Republican.”
Incumbent Kyrsten Sinema, who is an independent, will be up for re-election, and Congressman Ruben Gallego, a Democrat, is also in the race.
Wednesday’s event was hosted by conservative radio talk show host Garrett Lewis and included Republican legislative hopefuls and the current LD-17 representatives Rachel Jones and Cory McGarr and state Senator Justine Wadsack.
Lake continued to say that she won the governor’s race despite losing by more than 17 thousand votes.
“You might say, ‘Kari, but you’re our governor. You won.’ And believe me, I know what happened. I saw it. I feel it. I’ve been fighting, and I want each and every one of you to know — and I’m going to try and look in all of your eyes — I’m not giving up the fight to restore honest elections,” she said.
Lake has already lost two trials challenging her loss to Democratic Gov. Katie Hobbs. She told the crowd Wednesday that she is going to see through two other cases that are still in the courts.
