Report: 120 Layoffs as Tucson's LivingSocial Call Center Closes

Shutdown is part of national layoff of more than half of discount coupon operations workers.

LivingSocial's Tucson call center will be closed, with 120 workers laid off, the Washington Business Journal reported Wednesday.

The closure and layoffs are part of a national consolidation of the company's operations, with 160 layoffs elsewhere, the newspaper reported on its website.

LivingSocial workers in Tucson were reported to be paid between $14 and $17 an hour.

The company opened its Tucson call center in July 2012, with 180 employees. At its peak worldwide, LivingSocial had 5,000 employees.
